Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel were rather popular in the late 1970’s and all through the 1980’s, and still are. Cold Chisel is no longer performing together as a group but their legend lives on.

Cold Chisel is the most successful band in Australian rock history. Formed in 1973 in Adelaide, by 1979 they were the biggest live draw around Australia. In 1980 they released 'East', the album that consolidated them as Australia's premier recording/concert band. Their popularity was vividly demonstrated when, on breaking up in 1983, their 'Last Stand' concerts played 26 shows, including five at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Jimmy Barnes was the Lead singer of Cold Chisel that’s why their music sounds the same. I have known Jimmy Barnes personally for my entire life as his father is my aunt’s brother-in-law.

Below are the song lyrics for the Songs that have * after them.

Flame Trees - by Cold Chisel.
----------------------------
Kids out driving Saturday afternoon just pass me by
I'm just savouring familiar sights
We shared some history, this town and I
And I can't stop that long forgotton feeling of her
Time to book a room and stay tonight.
Number one is to find some friends to say "You're doing wel..."
After all this time you boys look just the same."
Number two is the happy hour at one of two hotels,
And settle in to play "Do you remember so and so?".
Number three is never say her name.
And Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town
There's no change, there's no pace,
Everything within it's place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around.
But Oh! Who needs that sentimental bullshit, anyway?
You know it takes more than just a memory to make me cry
And I'm happy just to sit here, at a table with old friends
And see which one of us can tell the biggest lies.
And there's a girl, she's falling in love, near where the pianola stands..
With a young local factory auto-worker, just holding hands
And I'm wondering if he'll go or if he'll stay.
Do you remember, nothing stopped us on the field in our day
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town.
There's no change, there's no pace,
Everything within it's place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around.
Oh the flame trees will blind the weary driver
And there's nothing else could set fire to this town.
There's no change, there's no pace,
Everything within it's place
Just makes it harder to believe that she won't be around.

Flame Trees is a very special song to me as it was played at my sister-in-laws funeral by Jimmy Barnes. She died on 10th August 2007 aged 37 from Cervical Cancer. She was my best friend.

The Weight – Jimmy Barnes & The Badloves

----------------------------

I pulled into Nazareth,
was feelin' about half past dead;
I just need some place where I can lay my head.
Hey, mister, can you tell me
where a man might find a bed?
He just grinned and shook my hand
and No!, was all he said.
Chorus
Take a load off Fanny, take a load for free;
Take a load off Fanny, And you can put the load right on me.
I picked up my bag,
I went lookin' for a place to hide;
When I saw Carmen and the Devil
walkin' side by side.
I said, Hey, Carmen, come on, let's go downtown.
She said, I gotta go,
but m'friend can stick around.
Chorus
Go down, Miss Moses, there's nothin' you can say
It's just ol' Luke,
and Luke's waitin' on the Judgement Day.
Well, Luke, my friend, what about young Anna Lee?
He said, Do me a favor, son, woncha stay an' keep Anna Lee company?
Chorus
Crazy Chester followed me,
and he caught me in the fog.
He said, I will fix your rack,
if you'll take Jack, my dog.
I said, Wait a minute, Chester,
you know I'm a peaceful man.
He said, That's okay, boy, won't you feed him when you can.
Chorus
Catch a cannon ball now, t'take me down the line
My bag is sinkin' low and I do believe it's time.
To get back to Miss Fanny,
you know she's the only one.
Who sent me here with her regards for everyone.
Chorus

Water Into Wine – Cold Chisel

----------------------------

City papers blow around me
As the mornin' hits the sky
On the ocean ships are waitin' high
So am I
City sweeper goes around me
He don't need no reason why
If I don't seem in a hurry now
I've arrived
Come on baby won't you save me
Turn this water into wine
Love, emotion, like an ocean
How can I hold back the tide
Baby meet me on the corner
When you hear that whistle blow
If I don't seem like I oughta
The one you used to know
Come on baby won't you save me
Turn this water into wine
Love, emotion, like an ocean
How can I hold back the tide
I'm on high ground
Put this weight down
Of one thing you can be sure
On the ocean ships are sailin'
But I don't need them anymore
Come on baby won't you save me
Turn this water into wine
Love, emotion, like an ocean
How can I hold back the tide
Come on baby won't you save me
Turn this water into wine
Love, emotion, like an ocean
Turn this water into wine
